A documentary that takes you through one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world, Toronto Canada, as the biggest championship in sports is happening on the other side of the planet.
‘One World Cup’ is a documentary that takes a fresh approach to issues around racism and prejudice through this massive global event known as the FIFA World Cup. It has become an incredible creative and personal experience for me. I met so many awesome people from around the world and had an amazing time, I think it shows in the doc itself.
I have been keeping a blog since the beginning of production covering a variety of topics related to the game of soccer and how sports culture relates to social issues such as racism.
The world has changed so much since I shot ‘One World Cup’; it has become a document of simpler times. A lot has happened but it feels like everything has come full circle now that the World Cup is actually in Toronto this year!
While shooting ‘One World Cup’ music was everywhere. Samba bands, DJs, street musicians, singing. I absorbed as much as I could and incorporated it into the soundtrack.
The music for ‘One World Cup’ became a mix of Latin, Brazilian, African, Jamaican and all sorts of sounds from around the world. I even sampled some of the drums I recorded to give it a more realistic feel.
